Choosing a Good Password
Choosing a Good Password

So how do you choose a good password?

A good password consists more than 6 characters. It has to be hard to guess but easy to remember, because otherwise you will be tempted to write down their password which ruins the point!!!

So pick a password that not only consists of just upper- or lowercase characters, or only one capital ('seCret' is still a bad password), so use numbers, different cases and even +/#=$

A few methods you could use:
  • Place one word inside another, pick two words that you'll remember but dont have any real connection to each other, maybe your favourite word and your favourite cocktail (and then vary the capitals) 'tiTiLLbRANdyATion' ('titillation' and 'brandy'!)
  • Use the first characters of the words of a certain (not too common) sentence, and then stick a number or an '!' or something onto it: Think of your ideal relaxating location: 'Hot beach, cold drink and warm sun in June'becomes 'HbCdwSi6' (6 for June), or something similar!
  • Pick a word or a phrase that you will remember and then change the characters around through adding numbers for letters or shorthand (like 6 for June). ie. 'December baby, Saturday's Child' becomes '12b4bYSa+' ('12 Baby Sat')

Change passwords! If you change passwords regularly, (every few months is usually enough) then you reduce the risk of someone "hacking" your password enormously!
