How to Change Your Password
How to Change Your Password

Changing your password is very simple, just log in to your account using Putty. (see the Documentation section on logging in for help).

Then type "passwd" at the prompt:

smiles@frink:~$ passwd
Changing password for smiles
(current) UNIX password:
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: password updated successfully

Nothing appears on screen when you are typing in passwords for security reasons, this is similar to the way some programs show *** when you type in a password

First you enter your current password (this is to make sure you didn't accidentally leave a connection open by mistake and someone is maliciously trying to change your password to lock you out) and then you type in your new password twice to make sure you dont mistype it!

If you have forgotten your password then you can call into any meeting and have it reset my any member of the admin team, or if you need it urgently then mail the admin team.
